Dreamless Sleep

As I reached,
  lazily,
      groping for the
        cacophony of morning
            I.  Realized.
              That I had had a
                  Dreamless Sleep.
The terrors of the day past
  Forgotten
      (Watching his stripes,
        deceiving, like a tiger's
            recede into the
              distance  -
                  away.  from.  me.)
And the void
  that was left
      seemed
        just as
            terrifying
As I cried myself
  Awake.

Author notes

8 June 2007.

A man was following me in Rome. It was scary. I was disoriented. I was alone. Dan saved me, but I was still shaken. It reminded me of Peter. And why I'm scared of men. It was hard to wake up and remember.

Is the cliche overused?
