Sunset

The soft pink that fills the skies
A sunset
spreading silently, slowly
over the horizon.
Bring an end to the day
of a child's first cries.
A boy's first car.
A girl's first kiss.
Two lover's first embrace.
An old man's last breath,
as he smiles, picturing
in his mind
all of those waiting for him
that left him years ago.
A sunset,
bringing an end to a day
filled with
joy and laughter,
tears and sorrow,
heartache and happiness.
Blanketing all
in the knowledge,
tomorrow will be a new day.
Starting new beginnings,
new endings,
and all the precious
moments in between.

    To be Able to Convey

a sense of comparison between a sunset and the events of anyone during that same time was wonderful. i speacially loved the line regarding:

    An old man's last breath,
    as he smiles, picturing
    in his mind
all of those waiting for him
    that left him years ago.

    Well Penned Piece, Many Thanks!

aye, all thoes precious moments in between. so 'oft we do forget, as we go on from sunrise to sunset, that there is so much more then simply makeing it through the next moment. but rather, owning that moment, liveing it... wather it would be fraught wi' challenges, or soft as a wee ones smile. i love wee reminders like theese ye ken, reminders that there is pain and hurt, but they are as beautiful as the love and joy. and thoes times mayhap, more then anything dictate who we become... mark our journey from sunrise to sunrise. and evera sunset a new chance... few and far in between are precious gems such as the one that ye 'ave penned here.

Wonderful imagery. I love sunsets and my write also had a picture of a sunset to go with the feel of things, sunsets paint a perfect picture [no pun intented] and a romantic scene would be lost without it. Lovely write.
