It was a strange yet charming experience.
We sat there in the shade,
The shade that was covered by clouds
Rather than the trees overhead.
We spoke like we’ve been doing this for years.
The topics included everything;
Marriage,
Sex,
Children,
Dreams,
Ambitions,
Life goals,
The past,
And what is to come.
The rain came down softly,
But not hard enough to disturb what was happening.
It was my message from God
That I was searching for
For what seemed like an eternity.
He was washing away the past,
More specifically, the pain.
As we drove away from the afternoon,
The rays of the sun played tricks on my eyes.
By looking at the sun peer through the clouds,
It would accent certain ones,
But left the bigger clouds in the shadows.
Another message from God?
I’d like to believe so.
It’s almost as if He was saying,
“Let the attributes in you glow.
Do not let the burdens you carry bury you;
Allow me to take care of the shadows.
Allow yourself to shine.”
As I listened for that,
The sun snuck behind the clouds for the evening,
Letting the rain pour down and wash me clean.
I love it when it rains.
