I was always upset, hurt, unhappy,
but you gave me reason to smile.
Whether it be with your goofy antics,
or just talking to me when I hid away.
You made me laugh, dare I say giggle,
with your funny voices. We created a
million inside jokes with each other,
claiming how we could be YouTube stars.
We made music videos together, videos
that made no sense, and you even dressed
up and took me to Mugglefest, because you
knew it meant a lot to me to go there.
You picked me up from track and field
practices, although I know you hated it.
You picked me up from everything after
school, when mom was too lazy and tired.
You told me about your problems, you
always trusted me and believed in me.
I told you everything that was going on,
and the best part is you listened to me.
You're my best friend, and luckily enough
my sister as well. You laugh with me at
things that nobody else laughs at, and
most of all, you give me reason to smile.
Author notes
I wrote this for my sister, and my best friend, Sam. Since my mum has been drunk a lot or sick a lot, she's basically raised me for the past 4-5 years. My sister and I are 5 years apart, but we've always been able to connect and be really good friends with each other and have a strong sibling love.

This is a beautiful poem. I think it's wonderful when siblings can also be friends. From what you said in your poem and your author notes, you and your sister seem to have a strong bond. Always hold onto and cherish that bond 'cause I think it's very rare these days for siblings to be that close. Keep up the great writes and thanks for sharing this poem.
