Someday I hope I'm able;
possessing enough creativity and guile,
to craft you your own fable
about how sun sprang from your smile.
Of the great reverse Pandora,
from whose grin, worldwide admired,
leapt forth the world's fauna and flora
in forms plenty and inspired.
The pantheon shall be redone-
Dionysus is replaced-
by a goddess, many times more fun,
and with by far a warmer face.
Your legend, it shall be retold
on vases, in red figure-
memories worth more than gold,
and your friendship sought with vigour.
possessing enough creativity and guile,
to craft you your own fable
about how sun sprang from your smile.
Of the great reverse Pandora,
from whose grin, worldwide admired,
leapt forth the world's fauna and flora
in forms plenty and inspired.
The pantheon shall be redone-
Dionysus is replaced-
by a goddess, many times more fun,
and with by far a warmer face.
Your legend, it shall be retold
on vases, in red figure-
memories worth more than gold,
and your friendship sought with vigour.
Author notes
A ballad for my friend Ivie; who takes a lot of interest in Greek mythology and with whom I have had many discussions on the topic. A lot of focus on the fact that one of my favourite things about her is how cheerful she always is.
A small gift for one of my best friends at college before we all head our separate ways.

I like the style of this. It flows really well everything fits so well. Sorry it took me so long to judge the contest some things came up.

I'm jealous, hah.
This is really nice, Marc.
I hope you'll get some inspiration back so you can get to writing poetry again...
I miss it.
I really like this. Meter is great, and the rhyme is better than anything I could ever come up with.
