~Forgetting the Past is Hard When the Present Stays the Same~

i hear the echo of the blows fill the air.
i hear her cries.
growing
LOUDER.

i become
-frozen-
in

have you any conscience?
any mind at all?

you blankly

into the distance.
hoping for the answers to fall into your hands.
you don't know anything.

but you do bleed the same as i.
for we have the same blood
pumping through our veins.

but we don't think the same.
and you don't think at all.
and you don't think rationally.
and you don't believe you're ever wrong.

when will i ever
e  s  c  a  p  e
from this mess?
from the lies;
the yelling;
the fights?

when will i be free?
when will the invisible chains
binding me to my prison
finally
e

    p
      o
        r
        a
          t

              ?
when will they finally
-VANISH-
without a trace?

so i can breathe again.

Author notes

all honest. all true.
story of my life right here.
but it's too cryptic for you to figure it out.
some may, perhaps brittany?
if she reads this.

Please tell me what you think

Holy crap. So this comment will be different to my last. First of all, the title really grabbed me because it sounds like something I always think about. You can't be a different person when you're surrounded by the same influences. I can see a few ways of taking this, but because I don't know you or your situation, here are the lines that gripped my heart because I placed them into my own life.
"and you don't think at all.
    and you don't think rationally.
and you don't believe you're ever wrong."

    "when will i be free?
    when will the invisible chains
    binding me to my prison
    finally

I hope the next year will bring something different for you and your loved ones.

Universal misunderstanding. everypair of eyes forms a different view... its probable that whomever this refers to would have a moderately different perspective.
The poem is well worded, and creatively spaced. I knew exactly when i should slow down, and when i should stop to get the full expression of the words. Nicely done.
