SM...Talking in Bed

Joining you each night in memory

Reaching for your pillow

where you always laid your head

Knowing you are here beside me

I feel your strong hands caress me

Always you whispered in my ear

how much you loved me

Still I hear your whispers

knowing you are near me

Remember the times in mid morn

we talked and talked

Settling all the world problems

along with a few we had

Still I wake and talk with you

knowing you hear me and answer

The longing for you being near me

never goes away my love

The aching in my heart is so real

patiently I wait and miss you

Feeling your presence in our room

I talk with you and know you listen

Our love will not die my dear

while you are here beside me

My Angel I will talk forever with thee

there is so much longing and softness in this poem...

one thing I might have liked is if the past tense and present tense of moments were more consistent. I felt as though the past and present were tousled in the poem with the tense switching within every few verses or so. And, there is such a richness in this poem that a shift in some of those thoughts might have pulled me in a bit more as I was a bit distracted with trying to figure out if the person is still there or not. one other small thing - whereas the entire poem is in modern English, the ending of "thee" likely will get more attention than the meaning behind your words which is such a testiment to a powerful love...

this is really a wonderful, well-written and strong poem... the images certainly are to be admired. I imagine a slight shift in tense would make this even more stunning.

thanks so much for entering into the contest...
