got brown eyes starting off my morning
i roll over and yawn
smiling because you're next to me
and things are never perfect
i never claimed they'd be
but we're happy
and that has to count
for something
got sugar in my coffee
and it tastes way too sweet
i've got poems on a fresh white page
and busted shoes on my feet
your hands on my shoulder and sickness in my sleep
but we're lucky
and things will work out
eventually

I liked this!
I liked how it was focusing on the light in life, and not letting the little things build up into a negative thing, and letting the possitive thing helping let light onto the situation
It was a great remender of how things will never be perfetc, but will have good things and will work out if you stay smiling
I really liked that aspect of it
I liked the hint of rhyme, it helped the flow

This is a really great poem! I'm sorry that I didn't comment when I read it when you first posted it but I was in a rush for work and I just didn't have time. But I've made sure to come back and tell you that I thought it was wonderful. It reminded me of young love where two people are not only just starting out together but they are just starting out in life and they don't have much. I think it sounds really romantic even if it's a little bit of a struggle for you. I have a feeling you have lots of beautiful memories ahead of you.
