Privileged

Missing image
I am blessed with felicity
imbued with radiance
the sun still shines
though the clouds are gray
and my every storm's intense

Joy of the Lord is mine
even in a world of turmoil
tears of sadness I may cry
but His love will caress them away
forever He will be loyal

Each day I see the sun rise
is a day I can exult
sweet or sour it doesn't matter
I am still privileged
though happiness isn't always the result

"Happines is like mercury. Hard to hold, and when we drop it, it shatters into a million pieces. Maybe the bravest of all are those who have the courage to reach for it again."

Happiness is like mercury...What a perfect poem you have written for this metaphor. One I would probably never have thought of. But I DO wish I had thought of it myself. Always a pleasure to read your submissions and entries. Good luck in the contest.

This is a good example of comparing happiness to mercury. You know no matter how hard we try to hold onto happiness-it can slip right through your fingers-it's a no win situation. I was thinking-mercury works well in their self contained containers-but out in the open-it's considered dangerous-a do NOT touch type thing. Hm....
Ya done good with this entry-best wishes to you in the contest~

and at times I paused and watched your picture rise,
just like the intent of the poem,
wonderful work a joy to have some time to read
