Hiding in the shadows,
masked in my disguise,
and you'll never know it's me.
Watching your laugh
frail, brittle, and fake,
all because of one mistake.
You deal your cards
ready to play,
taking yet another risk.
I hold my breath
one wrong move,
and it's the death of you.
Play your hand, my dear,
watch the cards fall,
as the ball begins to drop.
You drop your jaw,
and start to grin.
The cards have favored you.
You've won, my dear,
and I have lost,
this game was just too much.
I turn my back on you.
Try not to look back.
But I can't help myself.
I'll be gone soon,
and you'll be fine,
now that I'm phased out.
