Too Deep

Angel fire burned the night
Reflected in the mirror of ice
encasing a broken heart,

Yet unseen
  by eyes so sad,
Where tears dried up,
Juxtaposed by the torrents of
  rain
That pelted the sun,
  erasing its light
          for all time,
Eyes that speak
in words that lips have forgotten.

-A tale of isolation
and unbearable loneliness -

The rainbow viewed through the
spectrum of torrential teardrops
appears only in shades of black
  - leaving any other colours
        out of reach
            in the disorienting dark-

And the soul of depression
relinquishes its chase
  of the aurora
with a despair born of solitude
and lack of empathy.

Outstretched hands reach
into terrifying darkness,
-(desperate to find a meaning)-
grasping at wisps of wind
and the whispers of the streams
of water tracing fast flows
down the glass
of the window -

where she sits alone
day through seemingly unending night

- staring at the heavy clouds
that cast their evil shadow
across her world -
infiltrating her mind
  - a disease,
      without a cure.

She built her impenetrable fort
long ago,
  -when she discovered that love
      pricks like the thorns
          of a beautiful rose,
there is pain in beauty - too much,

The blood red flora -
Her last link to reality -
preserved for all time in its bell jar,
A monument to
giving up.

There are no doors
No one may enter her world

And she wallows,
trapped,
depressed,
Her elysian memories fading
into non-existence.
