You think my life is amazing,
A line you’ve never crossed.
You say I’m on top of the world,
But don’t know what I’ve lost!
My road is littered with bodies,
Some friends, others foes.
Each one a casualty of war,
Lost to this life I chose.
But great power requires great
Responsibility.
So many lives depend on me,
To smite their enemies.
I’ve risked my life so many times,
Facing this evil horde,
In the name of truth and justice,
With grief as my reward.
The battle is never ending,
My loved ones pay the price.
So I must live in solitude,
And make this sacrifice.
I long to see an end to it,
Bound no more to this task.
An ordinary man again,
Freed from the hero’s mask.

that would be the end to the whole thing

An enjoyable piece...
An enjoyable piece; it makes me wonder if you had a specific superhero, such as Batman, or some other popular masked vigilante such as Zorro; nicely done. --Joe

Hmm I tried to leave a comment on this but it obviously didn't work, so I'll try again. This is a really great poem, showing the dark, unfortunate side to being a superhero, you have done really well here. Thanks for such a great entry x take care and good luck x
