The Two

Cast out of Eden
our pure legacy destroyed,
in the seach for
all knowledge
where perfection
already existed.

A world unknown
where seven deadly sins
claws constantly
at our spirits.

A heritage of hate, wars;
lust for power
to gratify egos,
still searching
for that complete tree
of knowledge.

Bequests of misery,
uncertainty
with every passing day.

Future inheritance
of global warming,
climate change
in the name of progress.

An heirloom
of righteous misery
all because
of one apple
and an asp's
seductive assurances.

Thank you for your entry into the Allpoetry Legacy contest. That's a significant legacy indeed that you speak of there, and one we too often forget having to do with our very nature. I too particularly like the last stanza. Best of luck in the contest.

BrokenWingsFly is right, it is a bit different.

An interesting idea, I will have to come back and comment more appropriately after a few more reads.

Hmm, juggling with my thoughts on this one. Not sure if I am tired or just really impressed even though I don't agree with parts but then I do agree.
Anyway, was beautifully written. I have become attached to short pieces like this, they seem more effective to me, and this is a perfect example.

Your poem is very thought provoking. My favorite two lines are "claws constantly/at our spirits." Good luck in the contest.
