This is how it works

This is how it works
He proclaims his love to you
This man who you’ve known since you were babies
And you tell him that you’ve always loved him too

But then
You say goodbye to the man you have known and loved
Your whole life
The man that lives 8000 miles away
You watch him stand there
On the wet platform
Rain drops falling on his broken heart
Two young people in love
Two souls split between two different worlds
Yet you absolutely have no choice to stay
Tears in your eyes
The train is about to leave
You hope that something would happen
That he could jump on the train
That you could run off and kiss him
Hold him in an embrace…
Then the doors close
His eyes are locked on yours
While you watch him move away
And your heart screams in pain
As the train gently rocks you back and forth.
Tears stained on your face
You take your seat and realize your heart is with him
And always will be
Yet your happy ending is so far away...

This is how it works
We love like its forever
And then live the rest of our lives
But not together

Author notes

This isnt really much of a poem, but i needed to let my story out. He has always been my love, and just now we've told each other this and he is also my first love after the assault i had recently (someone else). hes a real big part of my life because he represents my future. this is the first good thing thats happend to me after the assault, but its so far away. i rarely see him. we still keep in contact, but its not the same as being together. no happy ending here. I hope this is what you're looking for.

I was moved by your poignant poem. Shame there's no happy ending. You come across as a genuine girl so kudos to you, my friend. Tony

Im sorry it turned out like this. I guess I dont really understand what its like to be torn away from someone because I always end up running away rather than wanting to stick around. I know that it never seems like things will turn out any better but all we can do is sit it out and hope for the best right?
