Tenchi

Have you ever seen the rise
of transparent wings
(set against the azure heavens)
filtering shafts of scintillating sun?

Or felt their rushing currents
while lost awhirl in featherless flutter
wanting not for worded winds?

Have you heard choirs
of ten thousand cicadas
permeate, with searching verse,
the cadence of cloistered earth

and layer life’s lyrics
upon the evening’s every breeze?

Author notes

This poem is dedicated to a truly gifted poet and great friend and to her incredible poetry. Her screen name is ten thousand cicadas. Check out her poetry (it's much better than mine). http://allpoetry.com/ten%20thousand%20cicadas

Tenchi in Japanese means Heaven and Earth. That is what I think of her poetry. It is both heavenly (spiritual) and earthy (passionate).

I think I only read this because I noticed the Japanese title. I'm a fan of of foreign things. It was quite a beautiful piece, helped me get my mind of everything. It's just, well I can't put my finger on it, but it feels like their happens to be a hidden meaning, more then what you wrote or what you felt. I still loved it.

Beautiful verse. Your use of alliteration and assonance emulate the sound you describe.
    This is poetry!

This is a nice dedication, I'm sure she'll like it. There are some nice images in it and this clearly shows your appreciation for her. Nice choice for a title, too. Thanks for your entry.

You are also truly talented to write this most beautiful tribute to her. Your words are so gentle and delicate yet so strong with the emotion you feel about Ten's writing.
