AKIRAS’ LULLABY ~ Quatern

An infant touch, warms heart and soul
As my breast holds dreams to unfold
Swaddling babe asleep in my arms
Tears of happiness, sweet and calm

Simple joy has seldom been  told
An infant touch, warms heart and soul
A life conceived, has no regrets
Awed by its presence, I confess

Commitments that’s placed, before you
Innocence vanishes like dew
An infant touch, warms heart and soul
As a life maturates and grows

Memories cherished, warm embrace
Precious newborn, covered in lace
It’s seldom one would ever know
An infant touch warms heart and soul

A Quatern is a sixteen line French form composed of four quatrains. It is similar to the Kyrielle
and the Retourne. It has a refrain that is in a different place in each quatrain. The first line of

four. A quatern has eight syllables per line. It does not have to be iambic or follow a set rhyme
