She sits there on her deathly throne,
Deep in her fortress,
Listening to the screams of those who oppose her,
The queen of all the world.
Her undying beauty captures many hearts,
Though some never admit it,
She reads the thoughts of those who do,
The queen of all the world.
Her endless knowledge is second to none,
Crammed into her small head,
I've found nothing she doesn't know,
The queen of all the world.
Living in her shadow all my life,
No-one knows her better than I,
After all she is my mother,
The queen of all the world.
One day as I sit at her right hand,
I ask "How can I ever compare to you when I'm queen?"
She answers with an affectionate smile
"You obviously don't know how much like me you are."
The queen of all the world.
Deep in her fortress,
Listening to the screams of those who oppose her,
The queen of all the world.
Her undying beauty captures many hearts,
Though some never admit it,
She reads the thoughts of those who do,
The queen of all the world.
Her endless knowledge is second to none,
Crammed into her small head,
I've found nothing she doesn't know,
The queen of all the world.
Living in her shadow all my life,
No-one knows her better than I,
After all she is my mother,
The queen of all the world.
One day as I sit at her right hand,
I ask "How can I ever compare to you when I'm queen?"
She answers with an affectionate smile
"You obviously don't know how much like me you are."
The queen of all the world.

Hello there and thanks for entering the contest i thought your piece was really good and a very good read too. Thanks again for entering and best of luck

-
This is cute. Not the ending I would have thought of, but certainly not a bad ending. Thank you and good luck.
-
Hmm... Interesting and very thought provoking. It would have been great for a mother's day poem ... but I guess you didn't have that intention.
-
i really really like this one. the way its worded, the flow and the thought process is simply amazing. i cant even begin to comment on this justly. just know that i really really like it. thanks for entering and best of luck in the contest

wow that was a great poem and a story also. I love the stories in poetry. you did a wonderful job here and kept my attention.
-
great!
thanks for your entry, and good luck in my contest! -
You know, I read the poem before looking at the picture, and I must say that it wasn't what I expected it to be. I had painted an entirely different picture in my mind, still with some similarities to the one you got inspired by. I love how vivid the picture you painted was. I could truly see this woman. Great job!

I don't have a good relantionship with my parents. I hate my mom. And "I Want The Truth!" (one of my poems) will tell you what I think of my dad...

I argee with Angel Without Hope
I agree with Angel without hope,
you really didn't give us
a picture of her natural beauty
but it doesn't take away
from this marvelous poem.
I found it not
surprising that
this "queen of
all the world"
is your mother.
Many kids and teens
feel like you do.
"Living in her shadow all my life,
No-one knows her better than I"
Pretty self-explanatory.
Veery well worded.
Your emotions are
portraited
quite well in this
heartfelt piece.

Though you don't dig deep into her appearance, I can imagine this person very well... this poem makes me think of Galadriel (LotR) because
"her undying beauty captures many hearts"
"Her endless knowledge is second to none"
and quite the interesting twist that she turns out to be your mother. And I agree, that, alas, many people do, indeed, turn out like their parents (maybe not such a bad thing for you, but for me...)
nicely done : -
-
I didn't go into that because if you click on the link in my AN you can see her for yourself...
