When anyone asks
Who you are,
I smile
And answer,
“The love of my life.”
You laugh,
And we hug,
Striking a pose
As only we can,
And it’s
Beautiful.
But when I’m alone
And not lost
In your soul,
I remember
My words,
My flippant
Reassurances,
And thrill
At the truth
In my
Lighthearted banter.
Author notes
This was a poem I tried to write for a contest. It then decided that it didn't want to fit the prompt, after all, but I couldn't let it go to waste. (I promise this is the first and last silly teenage love poem you'll see from me.)
