dive into those blood-depths.
One must
or the ruby prize will never be yours,
one must because,
just because.
Drown,
because fear
does much worse to a soul.
Drown,
transcend.
Drown,
own your love,
know your extreme,
fight for your inner life.
Drown,
feel that moment
when you let go of your reason,
when you find it safe,
washed up upon some shore.
Drown,
or you will not have lived.
Author notes
This is my sequel to 'Blood', which was the prewrite that i posted. This is written for the category "Write about a single moment in your life....." etcetera. I only hope that it is not too abstract to fit into this category... for me the poem 'Blood' talks about this moment too, but it is the wry cryptic warning that a crone might impart to a soul at the crossroads.... 'Drown' is the other side of the arguement, both relate to the moment of embarkation, when the decision was made, when the fool leapt from the cliff. Both advise of the harshness and the neccessity of the journey.
enjoy.

Intriguing write. The idea of having to drown, to go to the very depths, to take the ruby prize, is an interesting idea. I never thought about it that way, but I guess you have to sacrifice. I like the repetition of drown, with every stnaza sinking deeper. Thanks for entering and good luck!
