It was last semester, to be exact,
when I took home ec class.
I learned how to cook.
I learned how to bake.
So many fun things
I learned how to make.
But then it was time
to learn how to sew.
I'd thought it'd be simple,
but what did I know?
We each had to make
an article of clothing.
Others did well,
and I was full of loathing.
So I pondered and pondered.
Just what would I make?
I wanted a project
that would take the cake.
"I've got it!" I thought,
with a satisfied grin.
If only I had known
where to begin.
Then it was time
to turn the projects in.
I knew I had failed.
I would never win.
When I gave her my project,
the teacher did stare.
For I had worked hard
making underwear!
I didn't know how
to measure the cloth.
So it was quite patched.
Part had flowers and moths.
Where the legs go,
there were uneven holes.
One was smaller than an elbow,
the other big as a bowl.
The waistband was made
with a simple drawstring.
The elastic band
just wasn't my thing.
With no surprise
my project failed.
But it was worth
the laughter it hailed.
Author notes
not as good as I thought it would turn out, but I still think it's funny...

Teachers need to laugh too-
The good thing is that they sell underware at the store, so don't worry.
Good luck in this contest.

Oh god, this is just funny...I can imagine this horrific looking excuse of a sewing project...it's just so comical how I picture it in my head...
