Soylent Green

And as I lay my head

the beauty of God

washed over my body,

and swathed me in warm love

like embryonic waters.

The trappings of my life

fell away like flesh from my bones,

and he swept me into his arms

caressing my cheek

with his soft fingertips,

and I was whole at last.

The magnificence of this truth

absorbed me to it's soul,

and I smiled like I knew

what had been destroyed;

all of my life playing

like Sol's final scene

in Soylent Green.

That good things are coming your way and the changes in your life will be for the better. Not a bad drem to have just a bit odd. Makes you think og things in a different light huh?

Yes, I remember the movie as well
Charton Heston and Edward G. Robinson.
The title certainly caught my eye...but the poem is much more positive than the movie!
Being carressed by diving light and feeling whole.

Oh shoot, I remember the movie but not how it ended. All I do remember is they were eating each other because there was nothing better left to do. Hmmm.. that puts the poem in a whole different light doesn't it? Anyway, I liked the wording of the piece because I do like a good mystery now and then.

    Sincerely,
    Leo Long

A clever and well-crafted poem--I love the allusions to Soylent Green, a film I remember well from the early 70's.

    very good

i was drawn by the title
    "soylent green"
wan't that the muck in a classic movie
    "zardoz" or something
    anyway, i like the verse
    it was enjoyable, pleasant,
and i was drawn to the imagery

Thank you for reading and commenting, much appreciated. The film is the title, Soylent Green, Edward G Robertson played Sol, it was his last film before he died of cancer.

This poem is based on a dream I had the other night, as i dreamt of my own moment of death. Thanks for reading!! sj
