Empty Meadow

I see an empty meadow,
but is it really?

I see in this meadow
many golden flowers,
as well as purple, blue
and red ones.

When the near-dusk light
shines upon them, i think
"It's pure heaven."

The light turns
the meadow into
a golden lake.
It's color is
so inviting.

As I walk I see
many things i
had not before.

In front of me
scampers a rabbit.
Near him the grass
rustles as a family
of foxes slink away
from my footsteps.

Above my head
in the purple-gold light
flies a bald eagle.
It's white feathers
bright against the
sky.

In the distance I
hear an owl hoot.

Suddenly as if from
nowhere, a bright
light flashes.

As my eyes adjust
to the light
i see a creature
that should be
something out of
a dream.

The unicorn walks
up to me and lays
it's horn upon my
shoulder.

I cry out in pain
and joy as my heart
fills with both.

In my mind
I hear a voice...
"You are all right now.
Rest my love."

As I open my
eys I wonder
if it wasn't a
dream, but
the slight crack
of a twig catches
my ear.

When I turn I see
the majestic creature
walking slowly into
the woods.

Slowly, I too, walk out
of the meadow. Just
as i reach the edge
the last light of day
slips away.

In that moment
I vow to come back
to this spot tomorrow.

I slip through the trees
and the meadow rests
once more.

Please tell me what you think

    Great

I got such a great feeling reading this. I could feel the dew beneath my steps as I trekked through your idyllic meadow. Such a traquil scene you paint, and I like how your poem just plummets to its rest at the end, just as the poem also ends. By the way, welcome to your new group. I hope to read more of your talented work in the future.
