How many consider joining the military?
How many decide to act on that consideration?
How many, actually qualify and succeed?
Not many consider

Not many qualify
Not many, but I know...
I did.
First there was the test in the evening
Question upon question
Answer upon answer
I grew tired...
Being told to hurry up and wake up
I was warned they could cancel me
Cancel
Not what I wanted...
Success on the test
Granted me the priviledge
To go to part two...
Who wants to get up at 0400?
Well
In the military
It doesn't matter if you don't want to.
We went back to the testing place, also known as Meps...
There we began a 10+ hour enlistment process...
Is this your name, birthdate, and social security number?
Yes, to that oh so many times...
For hours upon hours we waited whilst we were checked out
Physically
Mentally
Emotionally
Historically
And all the other 'allies there are...
Soon enough we would get to the end...
Where we would swear in...
I am now a Marine Poolee
I successfully passed
The first of many obstacles
To become a full-fledged U.S. Marine

there's a 10 hour enlistment process?? damn, props for going through all this. it must've been extremely difficult, not something i think i could of done. great piece, congrats on your accomplishment.

that is great! I am SOO proud of you. SO proud that you not only made your decision, acted and succeeded. That is an amazing accomplishment that many should be in awe of and not overlook. It is very brave and very inspiring. Great!

I must say congrats on that. ^_^ all the tests and the boot camp will be so much fun! which base you goin' to? the one in cali or.. the on the east coas? don't remember which state it's in >< but anyways. congrats! =)

Thanks, and good thing your brother is in the Marines, who knows, maybe I'll meet him sometime! I'll be going to the base in San Diego.
