Justice Is A Faded Light

Do we need justice in the universe?
In a world of recycling and rebirth.
I hear them cheer, but these people don't know
after supernovas, where stardust goes.
We think death is the answer when someone's life is taken.
We look to a god and don't think we're mistaken.
In the universe, there is no heaven or hell.
No pearly gates, just a deep abyss-like well.
Killing another doesn't bring back a life.
And, doesn't take away a family's grief and strife.
In the universe's deep dark night,
justice is a faded light.

Please tell me what you think

we all think of justice as revenge, and you are right..
"Killing another doesn't bring back a life.
And, doesn't take away a family's grief and strife."

if this little thing get into people's mind, i think Nirvana can be achieved.

Thanks, Jeet. You know, I think you bring up a very good point. It isn't until people get the idea out of their head of this eye for an eye stuff that we can have peace in this world. The universe basically takes care of the karma of people itself in a way, doesn't it, the whole what goes around, comes around thing. Things happen in their own time and people don't really have to worry about it. Maybe that's what nirvana is in a way. Not so much not taking responsibility for their lives, but not blaming each other for mistakes being made.

  • I believe that heaven or hell is in the mind.
Good poem about justice. We do not really know enough to judge, so we can't truly judge.

Thanks. This poem was more about the law of karma, but yeah, along the same lines. Why judge and just leave it to the universe instead?

Thanks for commenting and sharing your thoughts.

Thanks, Desire. This piece is one of my favorites, actually. It's based on this case that I read about, well the original murder case happened in the summer of 1989 and the killer of this girl got stabbed in prison in July of 2007. And, the story just got me thinking about karma and then I wrote this poem. I had read about karma before, but I never really started to believe in the possibility of karma being real until I read that story. I'm so glad you liked the poem.

Great job! The universe is filled with mystery, and we are just unraveling the simplest things...it will be time yet before we find out everything. Really good work.
