Miraculous this emotion called fear,
Turning it over inside the brain,
Contemplating what it does to the body,
Pondering what it can do to the mind.
Fear can make you see things that aren't there,
It's all in your head,
Or that's what you tell yourself,
Keep believing and see what happens.
The comprehending isn't hard,
Your body knows when it's afraid,
Yet it's the other things fear makes you feel,
That keeps you pushing forward.
Adrenaline pumping through every vein,
Into the fiber of your muscle and tendons,
You could take on the whole world,
Or be devoured by what you can't touch.
How do you overcome overwhelming fear?
Conquering the fear and the adrenaline,
Would be the first step if you could make it,
Though the fear can cause other things.
Make you stop dead in your tracks,
Cringe at any sound you hear in the night,
It's only a tree branch on your window right?
Could it really be something else?
Lead into a false sense of security from youth,
Believe in only what you can see,
Is what they've always told you
Don't count it out if you can't.
Lurking behind every corner it could find you,
Your most dreaded and deepest fear,
Soon your adrenaline will wear out,
Can you beat it before then?
Or will you cower in fear when you fail,
Never seeking the help within your grasp,
It will consume you if you slowly if you let it,
All it needs is an entrance.
