A humble church, my dwelling place
where, neatly dressed in white
I lay and wait inside a box
with patience, day and night
until her soul decides to choose
the very fateful day
where I shall serve a noble cause
and in her presence stay
while she will send her honest prayers
which, carried by my flame
shall reach the One in Whom she trusts
His empathy to claim
My wax I’ve saved for her who grieves
and slowly now, I melt
Until today, no greater joy
no greater bliss I’ve felt
May she feel comfort through my light
while gently I embrace
eternity and peacefulness
before her tear-filled gaze
To carry prayers to the Divine
has been my only goal
in loving service to my friend
who suffers in her soul
My spirit has to bid farewell
no wax is left to burn
and humbly, while my flame grows dim
I to the Source return

Such an astounding tribute in it's depth and symbolism. Offering this flame, brilliant light
of constant faith to a friend in need shows the
world an even brighter soul that burns beneath. Blue

beautiful
How wonderfully you speak for this humble item!
"in loving service to my friend
who suffers in her soul"
I can think of no finer thing, than to fulfill one`s purpose - especially if that is to help someone who is suffering. I have the highest respect for healers and counsellors who help so many through the dark times.
You have presented this poem beautifully, as a light in the darkness. So beautiful, thank you.

I have always felt that prayers were circles, from the divine source and back again, perhaps a hearkening of soul. Tears well at such a loving gift for your friend. Thank you for sharing your healing touch. Heart felt, here, too. ~ K

maa, this is a beautiful poem... it flows smoothly and the rhyming has worked well...
I read this many times to get the gist... I'm not sure if it relates to sacrament, where people go to church to confess...and you listen to their confession and heal... please tell if I'm right...
these are the lines that lead me to believe that it's about confession...
"where I shall serve a noble cause
and in his presence stay"
"To carry prayers to the Divine
has been my only goal"
"in loving service to this man
who suffers in his soul"
you're very caring maa...
keep it up

well, not necessarily about confession ...
people light those altar-candles in churches in front of their favorite saint, mother mary or lord jesus in order to send a prayer ... (usually they demand something
- but sometimes they just do it to express gratitude)
I took this photo in my favorite basilika in paris : sacré coeur (on montmartre) ... this basilika looks a bit like taj mahal
it often comes into my dreams ...

Great, smooth, controlled flow minus line 2 and the last line. Besides those spots this was nearly perfect. Very nice job, beautiful.

Light shed into obscurity, a candle's sole function humbly fulfilled, not out of reasonless submission, but from knowing each ray of Light, however frail, vanquished the dark that is only capable of absorbing Light. Light once it has come to existence, will last forever. Beyond the boudaries of space and time. Thank you for creating and sharing. Good luck in the contest. May The Light flood and protect you and your loved ones.
