There once was a girl
With hair all a-curl
Who danced with danger too much
Listen to my story and you will learn such
Stories that'll curl your peach fuzz
When the girl was a wee one
She thought to have fun
By pulling a lion's tail
When he turned round,
She knocked him flat with a pail
When the girl was a kid
She came home and hid
From her mom to give her a fright
Fright her she did when she popped into sight
And got herself paddled good'n'right
When the girl was a tween
She caused a scene
By turning to the dark side
And when she came round caused all to hide
So she dropped that poor act down a landslide
Now the girl is a teen
But she doesn't cause scenes
No, she did something braver than anything
She saw a boy that made her sing
And decided to ask him to a dance
But her plans went completely askance
So she asked him outright
But when he said no her heart still felt light
So the girl went of smilin' and cool
So she's sittin' here writin' this rhyme
'Cause she's done with her test and has lotsa time
To contemplate her brave act
And to figure: "I dont really mind, in fact!"
"This just proves I have courage
Since I asked a guy older than my age
When I knew he'd say no from the start
But courage comes from the heart
And that's what I've got
And I thank him for being hot
So I'd get up the balls to ask him
Don't care if he said no,
It only helped my courage grow
So I thank him for the leg up."
Author notes
I wrote this when I was fifteen. I just found it shoved into the back of one of my desk drawers and decided to post it.
