"the face of serenity"--what an interesting phrase. You have addressed something here that could apply to most any of us. We can walk around as if all is well, when inside we just want to scream out. It is interesting to me that you chose to use an "old woman" in this piece. It could have been any woman, or any person, for that matter. the fact that it was an old woman added a certain mystery about it. You singled her out as if to say "she has a story here." Very clever pharasing.
Great title and great piece. Good luck with your contest.

Darn mask can also get in the way of progress
Hard to drop the fake facade at times...but it can also protect against vulnerability.Thank you my friend for all your wonderful comments, as always greatly appreciated
