Treasure Hunter

Above the Earthly dirtyness
floating in love
he sees his mark below
and descends into the slime
smiling

Disguised and ruthless
he softens the dirt with stories and songs
laughter and confessions
of life

On queue, he begins his assault
and the tears of sorrow flow
some slime is washed away
showing the injuries underneath
his smile brightens the
sewer

Massaging the chest is
just a diversion
as the spot for the incision is
marked with love
and the strategy for obtaining
cooperation is cunningly devised

Without warning the knife is plunged
into the chest
the heart is open
the slime washes out
with tears of joy

The treasure hunter
has his prize
and holding it
if only for a moment
is payment in full

The knife removed
the heart purified
the treasure safe
two treasure hunters
fly away

This is gorgeous. It reminds me of a Tool song(4 degrees), and of your calling. The One that must dig deep to help others realize the beauty, the divinity that lies within us all~so that he/she/they/us/we must seek to uncover the golden spirit that binds us all...

    Much Love

Interesting write. Good imagery in this piece. To me, I imagined doctors operating on someone's heart. This poem made me think of a spiritual look at life, like maybe the greatest treasure in life can either be love or maybe even the gift of life itself. Good luck in the contest.
