Welcoming concern opens the door
and ushers you inside to sit
while I pour, and you breath in.
You take a moment to enjoy the scent
of your warm cranberry apple tea.
I'm patient, knowing when you are ready
you'll tell me why your here.
And when you leave, unburdened, content
to walk more lightly out my door,
your confidence will be kept here.
A safe haven from care and chaos.
Treasured photos of your childhood
play up and down my hallway
displaying the years of maturity
today you now have attained.
Whistful memories of the child
gladly give way to discoverying
the joy I've found in meeting
the lady you've become.
You think you find answers here
but you brought them with you
and in safety brought them forth
to explore, and shared them with me.
I shake the can, the tea is low
and I go restock, I want to be ready.
