you told me that you loved me
you told me that you cared
you promised a better place
but we never got there...
she told me you were lying
just look at all the unkempt promises
all the bill collectors calling our house
all the drug problems
this is what he is
he's nothing
she brain washed me
for all the years I was with her
but still I was delighted
when he called and promised
one day he'd fix it all
he'd find a better place
every night I dreamed
of what that better place was
of where it would be
who would be there
what it looked like
sometimes I'd even pretend I was there
with a bunch of other kids
then my mom would say..
stop day dreaming you've got homework
or you've got chores
don't just sit around
you're not gonna end up like your father
he doesn't even love you
but as I grew up I knew it was a lie
it was her who didn't love
her who didn't care
her who I spent all these years with
and she wasn't really there
