Somewhere

Missing image

Somewhere
is the place
my heart will go,
to dream and love,
never feeling a reason again for tears.

An oasis beyond what I know,
where the sun isn't a candle
shining upon my shadows,
but a light of hope
showing days of promise.

Strips of sand
collected in my soul
washed on shores of thoughts,
grains of lament caressed by seas of sorrow.

Yet, facing the dying day,
breathless in ecstasy
against the tides of darkness.

Because I discovered how all along,
my somewhere
is an island in my personal ocean
created by rains of moods,
where the weather showers gold or fire,
depending on what my mind's eye
chooses to believe.

wow this feels like me already
    "somewhere
    is the place
    my heart will go"

That is the most beautiful beginning in this competition so far.
It is exactly how I feel towards this island

"An oasis beyond what I know,
where the sun isn't a candle
    shining upon my shadows,"

again this description is beautiful! an oasis beyond what I know
wow I feel eclipsed by not thinking instead of bombarded with thoughts its really nice and calm and the free verse is beautiful

    "washed on shores of thoughts,
grains of lament caressed by seas of sorrow."

I think of the ebb and flow and the gantle tide of emotions that pull my thoughts to foam on the edges. its a beautiful image.
grains of lament treasured by the seas of sorrow
and held tight I feel not sad but safe carried by the sea and almost loved.

"Because I discovered how all along,
    my somewhere
is an island in my personal ocean
    created by rains of moods,
where the weather showers gold or fire,"

I really enjoy your colour control you use dark and then light colours showering gold or fire upon the dark sand. thinking of the picture It is perfectly written and described as the skydominates the shadow. triumphant and bright even though it will eventually fade and give way to the night which is equally beautiful.

"depending on what my mind's eye
    chooses to believe."

the ending is simply amazing! my minds eye suggests that I see the island nostaligally different to what is really there fantasising and magically enhancing whatis already there.
and y defiance and childhood belif that my heart loves this island and nothing will destroy the image I have.

thankyou so much this is my favorite so far. what a beautiful poem

This was a peaceful reading poem. I wish I could go there, for my nightmares as of late would scare a grown man to death. Thank you for a small peek to paradise.
