read to melody of The Sable by Megan Murphy (Random Goldfish)
Under starlight skies, they sleep
magic in the darkness keep
through the arms of pale trees they may fly
in a child’s hand they will lie.
Long past, winters cold, they lived
dens warm, shoulders snug, close in
icy waves nestling, frozen boughs
sables carry young hearts in tow...
That year in the spring we came
wandering, as the wind and rain
gentle path leading our searching souls
sable footprints in thawing snow.
Winding through the forest floor
flowers at the sable’s door
sighing hearts in time return that way
lonely time in a sable's day.
