~~ A Monarch's Flight~~

Missing image
A monarch butterfly came fluttering by,
Upon a warm evening breeze
It soared above the summer flowers,
And up past the lofty trees
It glides above the arbor high,
All void of clematis red
Over my little flower garden
Where flowers nod their sleepy heads~

I looked in awe,
At the butterfly wings
Of this monarch butterfly,
How does it know it's course
And where does it know to glide?
Questions like these,
I do not understand
I don't know the how's or why's,
But these precious moments
Are not here to stay,
When evening shadows draw to a close
I can recall the magic of this day~

    well done

ah butterflies are beautiful the artwork you have here perfectly supports the words you have penned. Like the fragile delicate wings this poems just flows along in a gentle loving mode a bit like the butterflies which you write. keep the ink flowing. a pleasure to read.

    I found it!!!!
butterfglies are such fragil and yet one of the most exquisite creatures. They are at first so ugly, become a cocoon and then open their colored wings to fill our lives with beauty!
Your poem has the beauty we can find on the butterfly!
    Very well done Susan!
    Good luck in the contest!
    Lots of Mari

Beautiful poem about one of my favorite things.. The butterfly is one of natures most beautiful creations. Every time I see one I'm reminded of the Native American stories of how if you whisper your desires, the butterfly will take them directly to the Great Spirit where they are heard and answered.

    Thank you for sharing

    beautiful.

This is so beautiful I dont see how you could not be sure of it. Monarch butterflies are very important to my son and I. Last year we had THOUSANDS of caterpillars they all grew into wonderful creatures. Now in my sons kindergarten class they are studing them and they are watching the process. Why am I telling you this? LOL Im not sure, I guess I just wanted to say thank you for writing a poem that made me smile. It brought back wonderful memories. {except when they were everywhere and we stepped on them~eww} Any way very beautiful. Great write.

Yes, butterflies are awesome creatures, and so beautiful. You've captured their beauty and gracefulness in this poem, Susan. It's kinda sad that they have such short lives, though.
I wrote a haiku about butterflies... maybe you've read it.

    Yours is just lovely.

beautiful poem!!! i just saw several monarchs in my yard yesterday, my boyfriend didn't seem too impressed, and my dog sure wasn't (she'd just try to eat them) but I was in awe. nature is filled with many magical moments, if only we'd open up our eyes and look. blessed be.

You so beautifully capture that magic moment when a butterfly hovers into sight. There is just something very enchanting about watching a butterfly hover over the flowers and flutter through the air. Very nicely written. I enjoyed this one a lot.

butterflies fascinate me. I go to a place in pine mountain, ga.
that has a butterfly house containing thousands of them flying around.
    it's great.

in brazil, they're called borboletas. in mexico, mariposas.

    but I'm rambling. LOL

    I like this poem!

I enjoyed this poem so much Susan. The picture enhances your words.I don't know why exactly but have you noticed how the world stops as a butterfly enters our field of vision, as if the merest sigh will frighten it away.
Beautiful as always Susan - your talent never falters.

i think it's beautiful susan. there may be a little bit of a problem with the flow of some things in the second half, but the first half flowed beautifully and the rhyme seemed so natural that it almost went unnoticed

the background and picture are beautiful i love it
