I Look Before Me An Angel

Missing image
To touch within thy heart,
Your eyes rage into my soul,
Mere moments hold only
a breath,
Wherein those few seconds
forever meet between the shadow and the light,
Are you my counterpart?
My soulmate which completes me?
Do you answer my questions
before the words hit my lips?
I look before me an angel
which touches my every being,
And in this my wishes
finally have come true,
So reach into my eyes
and tell me what I need to know,
In this we'll celebrate
forever in a day
those pure pleasures
that some only dreams of.

frankly you are missing a truly remarkable modern day poet by not reading McKuen.
His works speak to the soul & the heart.
It's as if he were speaking directly to you. and I'm gathering that your not into romantic poetry...
you don't know what you missing.

the subject of: "forever meet between the shadow and the light" is muddied, but IF the meaning is "FOREVER meet(s) between the shadow and the light"- that works... or if "those few seconds"
"meet forever between the shadow and the light" -- I get from that the idea that the measured time of a few seconds translates into an emotional forever/timelessness because of longing or love?!?!?! Yes? No? I'm not a "THY" sort of guy... and am candidly NOT a Rod McKuen (sp?) fan... but clearly these are sweet thoughts lovingly expressed and so kudos for that... The idea of partners completing each other's sentences is here..."I look. Before me. An Angel." is here. "I look, and see in front of me An Angel" is sort of here...and "pure pleasures some only dreams of" should be "pure pleasures some only dream of" - singular verb/plural noun. Loved the picture. Did you paint it? r.
