You have to visit Hyderabad,
the very happening city of the east,
capital of Andhra Pradesh
nestling in the southern continent.
Here is the abode
of traditions old
braided with the sofistication of machines.
The Hi-tech city lives upto it's names,
with new infrastructures
and computer wizards upto their tricks.
The new airport is huge,
awaiting international arrivals.
The launch of various malls
for the restless teens,
and the biggest screen to view cinema
attracts all like bees.
The imprints of the mighty rulers
are visible in the forts and palaces
sprawled in bouts,
reciting varied cultures and religions;
Falaknuma Palace, Charminar, Golcaonda Fort
to name a few visiting spots.
The lakes and parks
and the famed "Salarjung Museum"
which hoards the wealth of the past,
kep pour feet and eyes busy.
The old city is a realm of it's own,
carrying the old world charm
in the antique buildings,
accented dialect,
crimson stained lips of paan.
It features the country's exemplar pearls,
lovely strings of
oyester eggs of all sizes and shapes,
A range mindboggling to choose from.
A further advance
and we approach
the world famous bangle stores,
shimmering, varied hues of glass
glitter in our eyes.
The crowd, a motley of the old and new faces
the old accepting the new trends
as graciuosly as
the new respecting the old mores.
The traditional dresses full of embroidery and sequins
clashe with the modern pants and skirts worn.
The cuisine is known world over,
with mouthwatering delicacies,
biryani, kawaab and lots more.
The spices linger on the taste buds
even long after the encounter.
The warmth of the souls here
is refreshing and contagious.
All in all
a perfect model
for the cliche 'unity in diversity'.

Loved the trip you took me on with this poem. So many sights to see, so many people to meet. I enjoyed the mix of old and new. I enjoyed reading of all the names of places, dishes, etc. You made me hungry to taste the food and see the wonderful sights and meet the people.
