Poets Speak

‘Tis said: “The pen is mightier than the sword”
and poets have a weapon sure to hand
whereby they wield the power of written word
for those who read and think to understand.
If, fearlessly in life, they seek to change
those things they can which, in their view, seem wrong
e’en though, at times, they manage to estrange
some who esteem their verse too steep or strong….
If, with their words, some difference they shed
to leave behind when they have met their end,
then, through their legacy, they are not dead
if only their bequests no minds offend!

Hugh Wyles, July 25th.2007. New Zealand.

Why you stripped down the Yemeian sonnet! Oh sure it is beautiful, and has the same message...but the other one had Yem's name in the title!

That's how I feel when I read old fiction...the ideas and the style...I feel like I'm keeping those authors alive by reading their works and appreciating (sometimes not) their message and talent.

    Dear Hugh,
I'm pleased to see you've added a verse in the Poets book 1 verse for the longest poem of verses by 150 Poets around the world. It'll be great if we make "The Guiness Book Of Records."
Great verse dear friend and the Pen is definitely mightier than the sword.
    Love Bea
