Small town, Midwest, oldest son
Cartoons were okay.
Mamá Catholic,
only Disney and Wildlife--
Mutual Omaha.
"Let me watch Batman!
Dark Shadows, the Green Hornet!
Quick! Turn off the set!"
Author notes
My mother was a very controlling person. She only allowed us to watch Disney, Mutal of Omaha's wildlife documentaries, and sometimes the news or a film like Dr. Zhivago. Now, some of you may think she was being a proper parent. Maybe so. Yet we were atypical of American youth. I never knew what people were talking about when they talked about tv. But that's okay.

You must be my long lost cousin, my mother did the same thing. Never knew what a "bippy" was for years! Great haiku!

My father was probably similar to your Mom in TV tastes...To watch TV with him it was always that 20th Century show--(I think Walter Cronkite was the narrator), though now I'm hooked on the History Channel. Still love those old Timmy and Lassie reruns when I can catch 'em though!
Thanks for this great haiku-chain entry to the contest, Cafe!

The 20th Century Show? Not sure what that is
Still, thanks for the kind message.
I won't watch Timmy and Lassie till I get my own dog. I still miss Galahad, our tux-clad retriever.
