My Soldier

Sleepless nights just one torment,

As I lay in bed thinking of you.

Are you hungry, are you scared,

Does gunfire fly by your head?

Blankets of down wrap around me.

Your bed a sand pit and scorpions,

thats all my mind sees.

I close my eyes, the moon my witness,

solace in dreams I seek.

But war fills my thoughts,

gunfire and death I do reek.

So I'll look at the stars through window pane.

And wonder if things will ever be the same.

Take care Soldier your life in my soul,

come home to me soon and fill in this hole.

Author notes

So many family members have sleepless nights due to this horrible war. I dedicate this piece to those families left behind to go on.

    Wonderful Write!!!

This is an excellent write and it makes me sad for her. I hope he comes home soon to fill that void. It makes me realize how grateful I should be because I have my family right here, right now with me. I am in a house with a crappy bed and air conditioning but that is a million times better than an empty bed, sleeping on sand, In the heat with scorpions! Thanks for reminding me.

    Hugs,

    RedSnow

You are correct! There are many many familiaes out there that suffer sleepless night because of such thoughts. We can only hope for the war to end and the return of our loved ones sooner rather than later. Thank you for entering and good luck!

    Blessings
