Why Sleep Escapes Me

Missing image
Sleep escapes me not by choice
Eight hours sleep they say is best
but some of us just can't escape
that dreaded beast 'insomnia'
he creeps into our head and keeps us from our bed
he makes us think and worry
he stirs up all our pain
physical and mental too
So I read or write
or just toss and turn
I wish my muse kept daytime hours
but he seems to like early morn the best
so up I sit, pen at the ready
to capture his every word, before they too escape me

Author notes

Good luck all, A good nights sleep is bliss but one I rarely get one,Be blessed those who do, but we insomniacs learn to cope on little sleep.

Good write. I've felt like this lately. It's better at night, but early in the morning it gets hot and I can't sleep. I'm lucky if I get 8 or 9 hours in a night. Usually I can't sleep past 6am. Anyway, great write. Keep up the good work. And good luck with getting more sleep.

Short and to the point are your words. You tell of several reason why we are struck by insomnia. Thank you for entering and good luck!

It is winter in Australia and that is a perfect time to use a rice bag in bed. Yes, I wrote a poem telling how to make one and maybe you read it. It's called "Move Over Martha Stewart" or something like that. You make a rice bag and warm it and take it to bed with you and you will be asleep in no time and hopefully sleep all night. Fab poem, and I totally get it.
