Silence creeps beneath the moonlight
Keeping all in evil’s shadow
When you turn it grips your throat
And your face goes sick and sallow
Your eyes are shot with blood and then
You hear the angels singing softly
Calling from dark corners of heaven
Voices far away and lofty
Ring around the rosy
Pocket full of posies
Ashes, Ashes,
We all fall down
And your blood on stone does spill
As you hear their beckon call
When nothing but your bones are left
She will lead you to them all
Your lifeless eyes cry blackened tears
Your empty heart begins to bleed
She takes your bony hand in hers
Choking your arm like a weed
And as you look upon the ground
A message written in the earth
You try to run but can’t escape
And in your heart begins fear’s birth
Ring around the rosy
Pocket full of posies
Ashes, Ashes,
We all fall down
Your screams of horror clearly ring
Shaking cold your hands do clasp
But she is cold and stony-still
And slip she does from your weak grasp
And as she fades into the dark
Soft tears of black run down your face
You fall apart upon the ground
For all that’s left is empty space
And as you lie in cold and dark
A voice from heaven do you hear
The sharpest lives within those words
Piercing through you like a spear
Ring around the rosy
Pocket full of posies
Ashes, Ashes,
We all fall down
Take from death this rhyming song
Her beautiful voice does softly drone
Her hand hangs limp next to her corpse
And you are alone.
Keeping all in evil’s shadow
When you turn it grips your throat
And your face goes sick and sallow
Your eyes are shot with blood and then
You hear the angels singing softly
Calling from dark corners of heaven
Voices far away and lofty
Ring around the rosy
Pocket full of posies
Ashes, Ashes,
We all fall down
And your blood on stone does spill
As you hear their beckon call

Author notes
The idea for this poem came to me when my mother told me that the ring around the rosy rhyme was about the plague. this turned out to be false, I might add, but the idea was just too awesome to pass up. i lost the original version, and I don't like this one nearly as much, but ah well. I hope you like it.
