i reside in hell
waiting for her answer
dining with the devil in
dionysian feasts
when i should be fasting
lazy gaze
i play the flute
even though i dont know
how
the world is still
and
i miss the ducks
and dead-woods
bottle rockets
and cigarettes
behind the tracks
angry women who stared
at brown skin
walking cujo
without a leash
smoking joints in a tent...
i even miss the dream
of infinity
the waxing and waning
of emotions
of snakes
and numbers
circumnavigating
through my fears
the high beams hit
the pines
and strawberry wine plays
we lived
for long drives
and long nights
strawberry wine goes strong
the artificially lit roads
wind on
now i walk alone
listening to the halogen
lights drone
and buzz
through the dead early hour
of the time in between
strawberry wine
i hate that fucking song

I have to say I enjoyed where you took me
Reminds me of many rail road track moments of my own

This reminds me of growing up in a small country town. You had me hooked through out the whole poem, but when I read the last two lines I had to chuckle cuz I know what song you're talking about. Great write!
