A Writer's Heaven

I wonder,
pen in hand,
and watch the everchanging sky,
while cows graze lazily
in fields beyond my garden fence.

Housemartins chatter,
busy feeding young.
I watch as I decide which moment
in my life I'd choose
to be my heaven.

My childen sleeping safely
in their beds,
the cat curled up
contented with his friend
the dog.
I wonder ...

I rack my brain,
pen in hand
to choose my personal heaven,
and remember friends and family:
the times I've laughed with them.
amazing jungle trecks
and wonderous mountain views.
Which would I choose?
I wonder ...

Now fragrant wafts of scented stock
invade my thoughts,
a ruby, blazing sun sinks,
glorious,
behind the distant, purple hills.
I watch, enthralled and
pen in hand,
I wonder ...

    Hoodwinked!

A first person narrative that almost all poets and writers esperience. 'The wonder of it all' leaves us sometimes with a glowing, wrm felling.

    Hood-Winked!

This is such a powerful poem - you make me want to be right there beside you in the world that you are describing I love the little details that make this poem wonderful (like the cat and dog) - warm and comforting - and well written! I have enjoyed reading your poetry and Hood-Winking you I hope you like it too!

    Keep writing

Perhaps now is a perfect time for you to revisit this poetic delight and remind yourself of these lovely things, my friend...

It is an enchanting piece, and I found myself standing right beside you, experiencing each image as you painted them on the page.

Fanstastic! Just what I needed to cheer me up!

(It's 5:55am and I've been up since around 2:30am ~ the best time to be alone and focussed, so here I am! )
