Irreligious/Hedonistic Tale

On a cobweb afternoon,
I sat alone in a room full of nothing.
My eyes were racing across the pages,
leaving me lost within a book full of death;;

I read on and on.
Of how we'll all die alone;
And if we're good,
we'll never spend another day in peace.

Those words flooded my mind as I lay on my deathbed,
praying up to the Gods and the Angels,
they lifted me up to a place that I recall,
[I was there not so long ago]
The sky was bruised, the wine was bled;;
and they led me on.

And on I read more,
until the day was far gone.
And I sat in regret and mourned
for all of the things that I've done.

For all that I've blessed;
And all that I've wronged;
In my dreams until my passing,
I shall wander on♥
