Nothing More to Know

Out of the womb he pours.

He's in our world now.

The light floods his eyes only to show him discontent.

He see's only but a glimpse:
Hate. War. Fear. Crime. Death.

All this he see's just from birth.

All this from just a glance
of the white room he's just been brought into.

He see's the sadness in the eyes of the people around him.

Instantly he feels unwanted, unloved, condemned.

He see's the eyes of the incapable parents
sitting before him; watching, waiting.

He see's the tears of everyone.
Everyone who knows that there is nothing to look forward to...

He knows that this is but a taste.
He knows there's more out there.
He knows that worse exists.

He knows that an innocent should not be here.

He knows that the innocent here won't last.

He knows that the world around is made of brimstone at its core.

He knows all this and he knows nothing more.

He knows what the rest of us are still learning, he is a wise baby indeed.

I wasn't sure if this was going to be sad enough or not, but I kind of liked it anyways. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I did, I just have been winging it lately not really feeling anything. I needed something to feel again.

Well, I certainly hope that that can be remedied!

Yeah, there definatly seem to be. I've been reading through a lot of the others, and some of them are pretty sad.

Well, actually, I just entered another contest, and I think that the poem I wrote for that is actually pretty damned sad! You're more than welcome to read it if you like. It's called Trust be Torn.
