the very worst
the little off-white maggot
crawlin from the bottom of a shit barrel
the not so convincing scab
of a not so common cold sore....ugh
that herpetic puss soaked blood clot
discarded on a latrine floor
even that one knew the love of mother
cradled, rocked, soothed with careful affection
day old elephant spunk
held close and caressed
cherished like the chosen one
there's absolutely no accounting for love
one simply does...
and that's all
the sun shines on the wicked and good alike
implies the preacher
i've never had cause to dispute
for its clear that love finds it way to
and touches the depth of the darkest
caliginous caverns
and yet is often misappropriated
unable to reverse the mind's deceptions
adverse to its own virtue

I think the title is befitting. I love the anger and wretchedness of this poem. Imagery is very effective as well. thank you for sharing this one with us here at AP

From the minds depth comes truth of man
Awesome this write for yes love does reach all cornors of the universe only some people dont know what it is or how to take it . When you offer your hand to help someone and they just stare at you like your crazy something has gone wrong with the teachings of love .

At first this kind of grossed me out... the whole maggot deal... kinda ugh... and the bloodclot cold sore, w/e it is... kinda blech. but yeah, other than that you did a good job writing this!!!! Congrats on the bronze trophy! keep up your good work!

Congratulations on the Bronze Win!
Yes! I was glad to scroll down and see that this work placed here. This poem is filled with imagery that makes the reader stop and visualize for a moment before moving on.
"the little off-white maggot
crawlin from the bottom of a shit barrel"
A most disgusting visual but I see it as vividly as a glance out of my window, to see the bright leaves of green from the trees.
Brilliant work!
Much Love ♥

Very true. There is no way around love. You have penned a poem that makes the reader think. Even through the extreme graphics of the first stanza, your work shines with wisdom. Congratulations on winning the Bronze Trophy here. I agree with the host. This poignant poem had to place. Excellent!
Much Love ♥

yay, i like this. at first i was unsure because the first stanza made me pretty much repulsed... but that made the whole poem better, even, because you show the real wickedness. my favorite line is "for its clear that love finds its way to and touches the depth of the darkest caliginous caverns" thank you for entering ,
