I dream of dragons
Whirling through a blasted landscape
Of molten rock and burning mists.
Perched on a mountain ledge
Watching their mad, headlong dive
Between the peaks and into the precipice
I cannot breathe;
Can only stare in fascination
At the joy and the power - no thought of risk.
Behold a lone dreamer
With no sword, and no shield, and no fear,
In a world conjured up by a fantasist.
Yet I stand witness,
Filled with wonder and close to tears,
Guardian of dragons and the abyss.
In my new reality
I unfurl my wings and seize the wind.
With breath of fire I rise, demon-kissed.
I am dragon.
