Before the Fall

Child bending over flowers:
a perfect picture of Pre-Lapsarian
innocence, the product of a painter's
palette and a yearning for
the simplicities of life
before the Fall.

Oh, child--you do not know,
nor should you, that you,
like the flowers, will fade
and lose your bloom.
Smell the blossoms while you can--
enjoy your short-lived honeymoon.

Awww, this one is kinda sad. I know that everything has a time to live and a time to die. Some people see the cycle of life as beautiful, but I still intend to fight it every step of the way. Thanks for entering.

The voice here is one of wisdom tinted with woe.
You liken these moments of innocence to bliss of new found love and it works well. Thank-you for sharing!

A really wonderful and compact poem with a lot of poignancy and emotional punch. Best of luck in the contest with this marvelous piece.
