your growl set the mood:
faithful feline, I purred
coaxing your hazel moments
one lick at a time.
heavily petting, I complied
my master -
your claw dug deeper
until I tore.
you crumpled bloody sheets,
then escaped;
I always landed
on my feet
hiding bruises
beneath soles.

They say its only eight more lives, but it seems like its so much more than that. I liked the ending, "beneath soles," can be interrupted as "beneath souls" as well.
Well done, and congrats on the silver.

I'm starting to think you just may be the metaphor queen :)) Love the ending to this one. Landing on the feet is important, too bad we aren't quite so agile as we age :)) Bravo hun!

Love this!
Claws and all darling, claws and all.
Always plan on landing on your feet and you certainly will.
This is rich with imagery and metaphors. Love that ending!
