I took some string and feathers
and tied 'em to a hook
now with my rod and weighted line
I'm headed for the brook
with my woman by my side
and a six-pack on ice
i'm going to the river
for a tasty trout tonight
I'm gonna catch a lot of fish
'cause that's what I do
I may not catch my limit
but I'll catch more fish than you
got my net, my waders,
my rod, my reel ,my hat
I'm gonna catch a biggun
'cause i know where they're at
{chorus}
i'm a fly fishin' wild man
that's just what I am
fishin' in them mountain streams
here in ol' Montan'
i'm knee deeep in the river
waitin' for a fish to bite
thinkin' 'bout a tasty rainbow
that i'm gonna fry tonight
hookin' up my special lure
that looks just like a fly
a flick of the wrist to send it out
back n forth acroos the sky
out of the water a big fish strikes
and soon the fight is on
rell 'im up into my net
i'm gonna take 'im home
fry 'im up on the griddle
i know he'll taste real nice
give 'im a squirt of lemon juice
give me a beer on ice
{repeat chorus}
{bridge}
fishin got into my blood
its a way of life to me
out in the cold clear rivers
is where i long to be
it's not just the thrill of catchin'
its not just the fish i eat
it's a way of montana livin
that simply can't be beat
{chorus 2X and end}

wow I really love this. It is perfect. Your imagery was better than great, you capture the reel feeling of fishing in this song. It is terriffic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!You leave me wanting to grab my rod and reel to do some fishing.

love it
a bit parochial, here on the other side of the globe we do the same, it's a way of mountain living that simply can't be beat. Watch out for the carp invasion !

I know, but i wrote it for the Montana Fly fishing Federation, so that's why it mentions Montana. We Montanans by no means have the corner on fly-fishing, but those who do it, no matter where they come from, seem to understand the Montana way of life. I think being Montanan isn't just geographical. I know some excellent Montanans who never set foot in the state. I think a good part of it is how you look at yourself in nature. If you recognize that you are a part of nature, and it is a part of you, and that you cannot survive without the earth and its gifts, it both uplifts and humbles you to see how much, and how little, you matter. God gives freely and generously to you, but the earth will survive you. once you realise the scope of that, you are in your heart a Montanan.

This would make one helluva song (maybe a smoking Bluegrass tune with banjos and fiddles, and such) that would be better -than anything that i've heard a playing on the radio for many a year! Keep up the good work, Bro! do you have music for this, yet! I bet a lot of fellows would sing this one on the way to work and after - walking with their poles! LOL!!!
Peace & Love!
Earl.
DANG IT - Here comes three happy fellows now with thier hands up in the air who had one to many beers doing a hillbilly jig to your song!

well, i was thinking country when I wrote it, but now that you mention it, bluegrass is definatly an option, and i dont have the music written down het, but i do have a chord progression in the works, and i hope to have it all complete within a month. I wrote this song for the Montana Fly fishing Federation , and so far, they seem to like it, whether they adopt it or not as their anthem remains to be seen
